[edit] Tests

[edit] First tests results:

  1. It seems EV doesn't work with some complex place names: e.g.: fr:Lieu:Mont Epinguet (Tamerville),
    see: http://fr.rodovid.org/wk?title=Special:Eventsviewer&e=OCCU&p=Lieu%3AMont+Epinguet+%28Tamerville%29&f=800&t=2000
which gives no results though people in this category:
    fr:Catégorie:Ventier au Mont Epinguet (Tamerville)
had an occupation in that place. I don't understand, maybe it's because the word between braces?
  2. It seems that <rd_searchevto> does not work: it can't show month number.

But it seems very very great! Really usefull!

I wonder what is «ext info» field? --Christophe Tesson - talk. 12:15, 14 July 2011 (EEST)

Salut Christophe !!!! ))))

  1. resolved [1]
  2. ext info == details of events

I finished this simple form. I hope it will be convenient. Try to use it and announce it at Current events --Baya 14:25, 14 July 2011 (EEST)

PS. Let's continue discuss it at Talk:Events Viewer. I'll watch it.

[edit] Second tests results

Is it possible for the field "ext info" to be "non-case sensitive" ?

  • Unfortunately no, it is require database reorganization ((((( Please, add this to bugzilla (( --Baya 10:05, 15 July 2011 (EEST)

[edit] Third tests results

It works, perfectly! No bugs. We decide to call it: "advanced search" (recherche avancée), and to put it in the Sidebar on Rodovid.FR. This is a big thing. I think there is no equivalent online.

Ah hum: a very little bug:

  • Is it possible to hide underscores in the fields?

Possible improvements?

  1. is it possible to have pop-ups for the dates, just like in "edit a person" page? (we think that YYYY-MM-DD is not really common. For instance in France we are used to DD-MM-YYYY)
  2. Infobox for help?
  3. Radio butons to choose order? <&o=familly &o=clan &o=date>?
  4. ability to write several items in "ext info" field, separated by comas (just like in place fields). It would be usefull for occupations that have different names for men and women (Cultivateur and Cultivatrice for «farmer» in French)?
  5. ability to write several place names?

Big future improvements (just some ideas...) A real advanced search page: ability to search people with any kind of parameters, including: name, sex, clan, etc... You're not so far of this! Aren't you?

Well yesterday, to celebrate your work, we fired fireworks in each town of France. Huh, it was july 14th? Sorry, it was national day, here! I don't know how we could thank you! --Christophe Tesson - talk. 19:34, 15 July 2011 (EEST)

thank you very much for fireworks ))) I can imagine how it wonderful )) Thanks )))

0. give me example please
  1. just a little other resolution, try to change date
  2.  ?
  3. done
  4. try search *Cultivat*
  5. it will be real advanced search. ))) Now it will be huge sqls for db. It will be resolved with case nonsensitive search. (((
  6. see 5.

--Baya 12:18, 20 July 2011 (EEST)

0. It was my fault. No more underscore.
  1. ?
  2. system messages for "poping-up help messages", is it possible? (Not very important).
  3. Thank you. I've translated new system-messages in FR
  4. OK i'll write this tip in help page.
  5. and 6 OK! --Christophe Tesson - talk. 23:58, 20 July 2011 (EEST)

4) I have added JS. So when you try to change the date a popup appears. So you can select what ever you want with a mouse ))) --Baya 11:34, 21 July 2011 (EEST)

Really nice! --Christophe Tesson - talk. 12:03, 21 July 2011 (EEST)

[edit] Prevent EMPTY form exec...

Hi Tesson!

When I called just http://fr.rodovid.org/wk/Special:Eventsviewer the loading has a long delay... that I canceled, suposing (i think) loading ALL records... :-O

Exist some validation to only load/open FORM without searching results, skiping this process, when all parameter are empty ?

Thanks. Morais 06:00, 16 July 2011 (EEST)

Olà Morais!
EV does not work with empty place field. Try to load anything with any character in place field, for instance:
pt:Special:Eventsviewer/&p=Brasilia
See what I wrote here:
I'm glad to read you again on that site! --Christophe Tesson - talk. 12:37, 16 July 2011 (EEST)
